Chag’s Jake 17 – 2008 Thoughts:

Another word of thanks to Stubby & Heff for planning a great day. It’s a tough job and you both did it well.

HIGHLIGHTS:
Doc wins the trophy.
Dancer’s golfing prowess.
Ashcan’s performance and graciousness.
Chag – HOF #1 unnecessary and unexpected.
Kings – great place, great atmosphere etc.
Stubby & Hub drop the “we’re expecting” bomb (they were golf partners last year – something fishy there).

LOWLIGHTS:
Golf venue hangs in the balance at 5:40pm the day before.
TP whining about the foul ball “homerun”.
No beers in a cooler at the softball field.
Cool Chief Rocker’s unwillingness to put down the only OGD shot all day.
Chapeau not even given a thought – not even a tip of the hat.
No Jake – again… Something needs to be done about this.

OBSERVATIONS:
Lt. Stalkfleet & Dee did not get the memo about going easy on the libations.
Dee is good to have on your side if you’re trying to get your car keys from a bunch of scrubs who make $8.50 /hr.
If we keep with the activities-based Jakes, it won’t belong before FLOMAX approaches us for their next commercial.

Thanks again gentlemen for the HOF kudos I can think of many cats who where there that night who are much more deserving than I (even the bowling pin comes to mind). I'm grateful and that's all I'll say.

Any takers for running Jake 18?

Additional Jake 17 Info:

Gents,

As an add on to my humble co commissioner’s earlier note.

7:20am Friday, June 20th
Present yourself for check in and inspection at Southers Marsh Golf Club, Plymouth.

Tee Times at 7:40, 7:50, 8:00 and 8:10. Pairings and foursomes to be determined. Draft of point systems has been forwarded to you all under separate cover.

11:30am Proceed in caravan style to Back Bay. Vehicles will be parked and all will report to Heff or my truck for transport to luncheon location.

12:30pm Lunch in Town (You will know when you get there).

1:30pm All will report back to transport vehicle to undisclosed location. NOTE: Bring cleats, baseball or softball glove and clothing for physical activities and challenges. Another NOTE: Bring your game. Just dust it off and bring it. (If you haven't seen it in a while, it may be in Rosco's trunk).
There will be team sporting events and skills competitions (Baseball, Basketball, Kickball) with a corresponding point system.

5:00pm Take transport vehicles to Heff’s yacht club for showers. NOTE: Bring a towel and toiletries. Dress for a trendy location. No hats, gang colors, or shabby attire. (Just look sharp).

6:15pm Transport vehicles will leave promptly for the Back Bay. WE WILL GO AS A UNIFIED GROUP.

7:00pm Group dinner has been planned in your honor. You WILL like it!

8:30pm Upon completion of dinner, our group will be ushered to the final activity of the day. This will also have a points system.

10:00pm Winner of Jake 17 will be announced. Jakers are free to roam the streets or return to the quiet comfort of their distant domiciles.

Gentlemen,
This is an action packed day with little down time. We are following a strict schedule as outlined by the committee and we will stick to it. Slackers will not be tolerated and will be disqualified from events if so needed. This will not be a day based on alcohol but a day based on skills. These are skills that I am proud to say you are all capable of. (Even Cool Chief) This will be a low cost day. We will all pay our own way and the day will not break the bank by any means. Bring plenty of cash, drink plenty of fluids, bring the right gear and clothing and bring the fun.
NOTE: We are planning a separate Jake Day schedule in case of inclement weather. This day will go on no matter what the world is throwing at us on the outside. The environment will not be a factor this year. There will be activities ready to go at a moments notice depending on the weather.

Heffer and I are raising the bar this year. We are securing our spots in Jake history. I would hate to have to be the one to plan Jake 18!

Please direct any questions to Heff or myself.

All tray tables and seats to their upright and locked position:

Gentlemen,
We are at 1 month exactly till Jake. I'm told plans are still being formulated. At present, Stubby & Heff are both ruing the day they ever took on this God forsaken task.

I don't know much about the particulars of the day but please check back often here at Jakersdelight to see what's in store come June 20th, 2008.

And just to liven up the proceedings here's a classic from 2003 of Heff getting "blocked" while he was "doin' some work" trying to "get her digits".

Getting Closer:

Sorry for the lack of action here - busy...

The quazi-Jake golf league is now underway. I'm sure you all remember who was in the money last year. Rosco, having won it all last year assumes he does not need to attend the 2 practice weeks. Time will tell if this was a wise decision. Heff had a pinched nerve in his neck last week but he still shot 41 (typical).

Everyone is getting their game together for Jake which is now less than 2 months away.

Speaking of...
It's been real quiet with regard to agenda/itinerary for Jake. Stub & Heff are keeping it close to the vest.

I had maybe the best crab cake sandwich of my life when I was traveling through Maryland last week with the family.

That's all for now.

Masters 2008:

It's The Masters time again.

Augusta National holds the first of 4 majors this week and it can't get here soon enough to suit me.

Nothing I like more than watching some of the action on this (closest thing to perfect) course while dreaming of better weather and smashin' my own balls down the fairway or into the rough as the case may be.

The picture above is the 12th hole - 155 yard par 3 and speaking of 'my own balls' I'd give my left one for one swing on that tee.

Hey um... where are we golfing for Jake??
