Mashie Nibblet's Birthday:

This should do it for birthday's this month. Rosco's (a.k.a. Mashie) is today. He's made it to 39 (oh mamma)!

While I'm at it let's give him some props for having a great (softball) game last night. We won the semi-finals and that means the finals start Friday. We were a well oiled machine just like the old days.

Stubby's Special Day:

They are coming fast & furious this month boys! Today is Stubby's Birthday.

By the way I forgot to mention he "jerked one into the seats" in last Tuesday nights debacle. It was a bright spot in an otherwise dank affair.

Squirrel's Birthday

More News:

The rumors are true Lt. Stalkfleet is moving to North Carolina. No one is quite sure why although it's speculated that he can buy 3 times the house for much less money in this market and the weather is much better and things cost a lot less down there (apparently these things are important to him - the silly bastard). Good luck Stalkfleet, good luck and Godspeed. This does not mean you are exempt from Jake however and we look forward to seeing you come June of '07.

Rosco's work softball (playoffs):
2nd game of the semi's last night and it is increasingly apparent that I am getting too old to play this game at a high level. Bumps, bruises, groin pulls etc. 6 Jakers were present (it was like the old times with the notable exception of us losing the game). Dancer, Stubby, Doc, Heff, Me & Rosco. We showed some flashes but by and large had a sub-Jake performance.
Game 3 next Tuesday. My groin can't wait...

Jake News:

5 Jake members came together to help git'er-done on Rosco's (work) softball team last night. Rosco didn't make it cause he had some stuff wacked off his body but Dancer, Chag, Heff, Doc & Stubby made an appearance and all contributed to the win.

Cool Chief's daughter (who had been in an accident involving a moving vehicle), I'm happy to report is doing better than fine and is expected to make a full recovery. Our thoughts are with her Chiefy!

I'm told rumors are swirling about a founding Jake member packing it up and moving South of the Mason Dixon Line. I can't reveal his name but I can tell you it begins with Lt. More on this as information becomes available.

Oh my...

Congratulations are in order for The Doctor and his wife! They are expecting their 2nd child. We heard recently that she is 3 months along so that sounds like the newest 'wee lil' med student' will be arriving some time in Feb of '07.

Doc obviously subscribes to the Rosco philosophy when it comes to family planning. "Have'em close together, sure you won't sleep for 2-3 years straight but hey it'll all be over someday".

There are some rumblings about getting together for some cards soon as well as Rosco trying to do a laser tag thing.

Hub's Birthday!

A thousand pardons for missing yet another Jake birthday (yesterday) this time it was Hub's.

It's only natural that his birthday would be in the middle of the summer as he enjoys any and all summertime activities and would be able to take full advantage of the "free birthday drink at the tiki bar".

In addition to surviving another year Hub and his wife (the Hub-stress) are expecting their 2nd child. Nothing but fun times ahead bro! Happy birthday and hope all is well.

Not an "Open":

Here's a trinket that Lt. Stalkfleet gave to the boys at this years Jake. It holds exactly 12 ounces of tasty beverage. Very nice Stalkfleet, there's no question it was worth the $9 each.

However...
I would be remiss (and I don't really even know what that means) if I didn't mention that Jake Day and the Jake Scramble is not an "Open" so much as it is an "Invitational". This thing of ours is not open to any slug who wants to participate. It's just for us slugs and cats we feel would be worthy and up to the challenge.

Dancer's Birthday Wish:

Soon he'll be on his way up to Canada for his yearly family vacation. He's got lots of cousins up there plus it gives him a chance to review the junior hockey talent, stock up on Labatt's and bring his buddy's back a few boxes of Cubans (cigars not people).

A few Jaker's (& a junior) went out on Cool Chief's boat the other night. Fantastic stuff. Nothing like the wind blowing through your gradually thinning hair with a beer in your hand and a stogie hanging from your mouth. For the record Heff was invited but he dusted off his old stand by "I've got my niece & sister's birthday party". See his bio for his list of recurring excuses.

Those in attendance were Cool Chief, Dancer, Chag & (the junior) JV.

Belated Birthday wishes for Lt:

It has come to my attention that I forgot to give Lt. Stalkfleet a little love on his birthday which was 7/9/06 (I had a busy weekend - sue me...)

Anyway, Happy Birthday Stalkfleet and congratulations on getting the best dressed award at this years Jake. Depicted at left, is the good Lieutenant poised to put down a kamikaze shot at Jake 15. Sorry these wishes are late bro, but my guess is you're still too groggy from your birthday hangover to notice.

Jake 15 Thoughts by Chagnasty:

Awfully light on the traffic around here of late - very disappointing. You'd think that if you created a website specifically for and about us we'd be on it more than this... Whatever, I'll take advantage of the lull by offering a few thoughts on Jake Day #15 - for what they're worth.

First Congratulations to Keith K. & Dee for winning this years scramble. They tore up the course. We've got some ideas on how to level the playing field for us "common-ers" next year. One idea Heff came up with is the "give shots or take shots" concept, meaning the single handicappers either give the field a stroke(s) or they take an alcoholic shot(s) before/during the round. Another would be to have them play alone. We've got plenty time to kick this around so stay tuned.

LOW-LIGHTS:
Tuck, TP, Dee, JV, Hub, Squirrel - no show for breakfast. This shows a blatant disregard for Jake and all he stands for and will not be tolerated at future Jakes.

A big question that is swirling around is, should TP be demoted to Associate status after missing breakfast, golf and 2 prime drinking hours at the Chapeau?

Stubby's ailment forcing him to play only 9 holes and exit the Chapeau early.

Unnecessary squabbles/hashing out old scores etc. Squirrel & Keith K.

HIGH-LIGHTS:
Squirrel's ordering up multiple shots. At the time it seemed like he was a mad man way out of control but in retrospect it was the right call. We were all feeling it by 6pm and had no idea what time it was.

BT Pub was a good choice. Pool tables kept us occupied while aforementioned squabbles took place.

Tuck (new Cat) had an impressive inaugural year and showed that he's up for anything the Jakers had to offer.

Stalkfleet - best dressed (took a page from Stubby's handbook).

All in all it was an above average Jake and one we can look back on with pride.
