Today's poll:

Which cat, would you suspect, might have been the one ordering all the shots?

Jake '99 Trinket:

As previously reported here at jakersdelight there have been a number of giveaways on Jake Day. From Heff's ahem... Balls, Doc's Tee's, Chiefy's Old Guy Shirt all the way up to Stalkfleet's "Not an Open" Beer Glass - all the trinkets have just been fan-frickin'-tastic.

Here is another that stands out in our memories from Jake 8 (1999). I believe Rosco got these Jake Boxer Briefs for everyone, which we 'sported' while posing for a picture that year.

Truth be told - they aren't all that comfy. Kind of ride up on you at times if you get what I'm saying.

The Littlest Doc-stress:

Congratulations go out to the good Doctor and his wife on the birth of their second child (girl) on 2/23/07. That makes 2 children (one of each) for them. They've caught up to most of the rest of us in the 'number of offspring' department.

By the way Dancer confirmed that the reason he was forced to do the prairie fire was because "he didn't have a daughter yet". You dodged that bullet for this year Doc, hell of a job!

Here's how it happend...

{{{{{{...... In Doc's own words ......}}}}}}

Friday (FEB 23) 4:00 My son is thrown into his crib and I am dialing 911 asking for delivery instructions. Yes I did delivery my daughter at 4:14, about 4:20 the emergency services showed up.

Don't count on 911 for help they were kinda useless and I needed to be transferred to the ambulance company for help! All they had to do is to tell me to put the baby on the mother chest and is she breathing?

There was a little problem with my wife that was taken care of and now we are at home.. All is well but She's in for about a 6-week recovery.

Our bundle o' joy - 7lbs 13 oz and 21 inches long. I will catch up soon.

Honorary Jake Member:

You know how sometimes colleges or universities give out honorary degrees to celebrities or other "important" type people even though they've never set foot in the school previously? Well here's a dude who has never so much as made an appearance at a single Jake Day. Not even a phone call. I dare say, he probably doesn't even know what it is or what it stands for.

Sometimes, however, those things just don't matter because this cats past history is enough to carry him directly into the fray. Ladies & Gentlemen, introducing the one, the only, the incomparable, Mr. Bo Han.
Oh yes, women want to be with him and men want to be him.
With apologies to the people who have not had the pleasure of meeting him, take it from those of us who have - The cat's a legend.
Hats off to our one and only Honorary Jake Member!

The Making Of Jake Policy:

>>> FROM: "Dancer" 02/15/07 10:20 AM >>>
>>> TO: “Rosco” >>>

Speaking of work, Chag and I believe serious repercussions should fall on Jake members who "work" during Jake Day. The nature of your job responsibilities aside, (Sales folks - Heff, Stubby, Chief, TP) you should be able to disappear for a day. No one is that important, even our esteemed President.

>>> FROM: "Rosco" 02/15/07 10:38 AM >>>
>>> TO: “Dancer” >>>

I agree. None of us are so important that we can't take a day off and send calls to voice mail and/or forward them to co-workers.

>>> FROM: "Dancer" 02/15/07 10:40 AM >>>
>>> TO: “Hub” >>>

Please put this in your notes/agenda for Jake Day.

========================================================

You’ll notice number 3 on the list from the Jake 7 (1998) rules and regs, it is explicitly noted that there should be no “checking in”. Any violation of this rule will result in a penalty. That’s not me talking that’s Jake History.

Doc & the Prairie Fire:

The littlest Doctor is due to come into this world long about 2/28.

While out with Heff & myself over a couple of frosties, Doc asked for clarification on why he was saddled with a 'prairie fire' last Jake. Perhaps Dancer wants to field this one as I think he was mostly responsible. If you're wondering what a prairie fire is; it's a lovely combination of tequila and Tabasco sauce.

Now that'll make your taste buds stand up and ask to be excused...

Not only that but Doc made it known that he would like to run Jake 17 (2008). We shall see.

Heff's Secret Life:

So we're throwing out some feelers to see what's up for the Suberbowl. Chag calls Heff a day or so before and the message goes unanswered. Dancer calls on Sunday and Heff says he's in NYC with some cats he works with. Says they were out late the previous night and he's beat etc. & so forth.

I think Heff's got his own bizzaro world going. He's got a whole set of other friends that he hangs with completely separate from his home boys. Or maybe he's been kidnapped and he couldn't say it over the phone for fear of the vicious beating he might get. Hey, maybe they've got him locked up and their harvesting his organs or something...

Oh well cat's got to do something besides play video golf...

Squirrel Update 2007:

Word around town is that the Squirrel is having a rough go of late. We were all hoping his new situation would bring about some stability for him and give him time to think about new directions while exercising a demon or two.

Keep him in your thoughts as he gathers himself and here’s hoping it’s smoother sailing going forward.

As Lorenzo (Robert DeNiro) said from the movie A Bronx Tale (1993) to his son Calogero…“The saddest thing in life is wasted talent.”

Here’s to ya Squirrel.

This Bud's for You:

Let's all raise a glass to this year's coordinators! It's a difficult, at times thankless job and anyone who's done it is glad when it's over but one thing's for sure, when all is said and done we really don't want to do it any... uh more...

Hrmph - I was trying to get to a point there but I must have misplaced it.

Anyway Good Luck Hub & Squirrel - y'all have 5 short months!

Jake 14 picture:

Here's another group photo from Jake 14 (2005).

A motley crew to be sure.

At left and kneeling we have Stubby, behind him Rosco, Heff, JV as in Junior Varsity, Dancer (in front), Cool Chief (Joe Torre look-a-like), Lt. Stalkfleet, TP, Chag-dogg, Doc & finally Hub.

JV hasn't had much play here on the site. We're all wondering if he's gunning for Jake membership or is he content just being an incidental. Time will tell.

FUN FACT:
Did you know a single picture of all Jakers does not exist?
