A final word:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Founders 2003 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One day till Jake and I am at peace my brothers.
I know I am not alone when I say I find myself giddy with excitement. This morning my thoughts are filled with quiet anticipation as I have my "lasts" prior to Jake. My last corn muffin, my last gasoline fill up, my last bowel movement (unless you're Heff in which case, his last would have been 2 weeks ago, but gentlemen I digress).
Just a couple of notables:
In keeping with Jake tradition we have a last minute potential situation.
It seems Squirrel is a possible no-go. Last word from Heff was he's at roughly 40% to be there.
No problem Squirrel - do what you gotta do bro.
Some juggling may be necessary with regard to pairings.
Son-of-a... I'll never win that frickin' trophy...
Lastly,
I would be remiss if I didn't provide this link of golf wacky antics/zaniness on this, the eve of Jake 16. Thank you Dancer for your tireless efforts researching and providing this to us!
Happy Jake Day to all - see you on the other side Ray!
Jake-mas Carol:
IT'S A BIT LONG BUT WHAT THE HELL...
It's beginning to look a lot like Jake Day
Soon it's time to go
Take a look on the Internet
And see that the date's been set
With golf & food & drinks at the Chapeau
It's beginning to look a lot like Jake Day
The time is drawing near
But the thing that we'll have to see
Who the one to step up will be
Hoisting drafts of beer
A pair of eagles a par & a birdie or two
Is the wish of Doctor & Dee
If Stubby & Hub can stay out of the shrubs
Oh how happy those two will be
And when Rosco killed the goose
He had some trouble off the tee
It's beginning to look a lot like Jake Day
A drink in every hand
The Lieutenant is far from home
But when he finds that he's here in Rome
He'll be throwin'em back again to beat the band
It's beginning to look a lot like Jake Day
And Heff can hardly wait
Cause his water is almost set
And with Cool Chief he made a bet
To see who drinks the "drinks" and takes the bait
If Chagnasty can stay he'd be king for the day
And Dancer can take a step down
And if "Joe" brings his game he'll find fortune & fame
Just before he is run out of town
And Squirrel can win the goods
If D can keep the ball in bounds
It's beginning to look a lot like Jake Day
T P will pop the lid
But remember when on the boat
He blew chunks and they didn't float
Which is why we call him K.O. Kid
It's beginning to look a lot like Jake Day
Now it's finally here
And the last thing that's left to say
It's a day for us all to play
If only once a year
We're sending Hub out first so he can get a jump on things after the round is over. After considerable pressure it has been decided to let the "guests" play with the "members".
Unless there is an overwhelming consensus - Non-Jakers (team 4) will not be competing for the trophy and are not required to play the scramble format (they can play their own ball).
Questions, concerns, comments, quips, quibbles, cordials, cognacs...
Artifact - defined:
Relic, piece o’ history, manufactured article, objet d’art.
Rosco's golf ticket from Jake 1 - The stamp reads June 19th 1992, 9:08 am.
Oh yes...
This Day in 2006:
Exactly one year ago today we were experiencing Jake 15. I don't think it's a stretch to say it was an above average Jake. Rosco had this to say about it and I chimed in with some thoughts of my own. Here are the winners of last year's Scramble and below is an instant classic picture taken just after we emerged from the bowels of the Chapeau.
Hub - JV - Squirrel - Heff - Independent Contractor
After this picture Heff had his buddy sign a waiver to clear us of any potential litigation with regard to photos showing up on the Internet.
Less than 3 weeks away…
